Recent Activities Undertaken by RIPORT in April-May 2017

Briefing by RIPORT to USAID team discussing introduction of sustainable water use in Gomal-Zam irrigation project D.I.Khan

On 26.4.17, Chairman RIPORT, attended a meeting with a USAID team, to discuss RIPORT’s experience in working with the communities in 10 Union Councils of Tank and DI Khan, for converting a traditional Rod Kohi (Spate irrigation), into an irrigated system based upon individual water sharing rights. The Chairman also shared with the team, RIPORT’s proposals for an optimized irrigation system, that would strengthen the existing “warabandi,” based irrigation system. He also shared with the team a report prepared on how to operate an optimized cropping system for the newly irrigated area.

RIPORT’s Work Relating to Conflict Resolution and Countering Violent Extremism

RIPORT has many years’ research experience in conflict in KP and FATA;

RIPORT also partnered UNHCR in helping to return to normalcy, those families in Swat, who had become victims of the Taliban, and needed to be rehabilitated to live normal lives. Due to expertise in conflict matters, RIPORT was invited to share its experience with the Foreign Office, and research organisations.
